What is Chiropractic ?

A historic profession

Founded in 1895 by D.D. Palmer in the United States, chiropractic care has become the leading manual therapy worldwide for back and joint care.

It is a profession recommended by the WHO and officially recognized in France since 2002.

Many people turn to chiropractic care as a natural way to recover and/or maintain optimal health—without relying on medication or surgery.

It’s important to understand that chiropractic does not treat diseases. Instead, it focuses on recovery and the maintenance of good health, which means supporting the proper function of the nervous system.

Our nervous system allows the body to self-regulate and continuously adapt to its environment.
However, the major stresses of life—whether chemical, physical, or emotional—can interfere with this self-regulation ability.

This can lead to various issues such as headaches, neck pain, joint instability, herniated discs, fatigue, back pain, and many others.

The role of the chiropractor is to help the body regain and maintain its innate ability to heal and adapt

Pain : A true warning signal !

Most people come to see us initially because of pain.

In today’s medical system, pain is often seen as something to eliminate at all costs.

Through chiropractic care, we view pain not as an enemy, but as the body's alarm signal.

When pain arises, it’s a sign that the body has exceeded its capacity to adapt — and it's inviting us to listen.

You may also notice that when pain appears, your posture changes, movements become limited… all in an effort to protect the affected area.

This is the body's first adaptation strategy.

A symptom is a sign that something is off in the body. It pushes us to take action or change a habit — ultimately to improve our health.

Learning to listen to your body is the first step toward understanding it, finding solutions, and achieving better health.

Pain means the nervous system has reached its limit to adapt.

Our body has an innate ability to heal itself, but this is often disrupted by the many stresses of modern life

Chiropractic care aims to restore and support the body’s natural self-healing abilities, helping you regain lasting health and vitality.

The chiropractor primarily uses their hands, along with a few gentle and painless tools, to address and correct tension—known as subluxations—in the nervous system (which includes the brain, spinal cord, and nerves).

The various techniques used by chiropractors are called adjustments, a term specific to the profession. Chiropractic adjustments restore optimal communication between the nervous system and the rest of the body.

Chiropractors in France complete a five-year degree awarded by the country’s only accredited school, the Franco-European Institute of Chiropractic, recognized by the Ministry of Health.

This holistic approach addresses not only symptoms but also the root causes of dysfunctions, contributing to effective and long-lasting prevention.
